The thesis presents the theoretical study of scientific problem of aesthetic education of elementary school students in Japan in the second half of XX - beginning of XXI century. Based on the profound examination of the scientific literature of Ukrainian and foreign authors the research provides the general overview of the understanding of the concept of aesthetic education of the individual in the process of human evolution since the early times to present days. It shows the variety of views and approaches that have been used towards the analysis of the problem of aesthetic education all over the world.
