The thesis provides detailed analysis of A. Sheptyshkyi's pedagogical heritage in the relationship with church, political and cultural aspects of his activities. The socio-cultural conditions of the formation of A. Sheptyshkyi's outlook and pedagogical ideas are shown. The main directions and the content of activities of the church enlightener are established and characterized. The scientific-educational, educational-organizational, religious and pastoral activities of Metropolitan are considered. Opportunities for using the creative teaching ideas of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyi for the modernization of the contemporary Ukrainian education are grounded.
