Essay

The thesis is devoted to the study of the history of Ukrainian cities and towns of the south of Kiev and the east of Bratslav provinces that were part of Rzeczpospolita in the XVIII century. The work is based on a wide range of archival and published sources, allowing us to reveal features of the life of cities and towns in political, social, economic and spiritual aspects of life of the region. The thesis investigates political life of cities and towns of Ukrainian borderlands, defines the system of local governance and implementation of the Magdeburg law; deployment of the haidamak movement and participation of the middle class in it. We showed the socio-economic situation of the cities in the region, described the distinctive features of crafts and trades land, established foreign and home commodity markets.
