Essay

Research deals with the problem of church-state relations in southern Ukraine in the second half of the 40 -ies and mid 60 -ies of XX century in the context of the religious policy of the Soviet government. On the basis of comprehensive analysis of a wide range of archive, statistical sources, and scientific publications the attempt of a comprehensive study of the situation of religious communities and churches in southern Ukraine was done. Despite a sufficient amount of scientific literature, which addresses the church history of the twentieth century, the problem of relations between the state and the church in southern Ukraine has not yet become the subject of an independent study.
