Object - the process of professional training of prospective teachers of computer science in higher educational institutions; aim - to find out the influence of theoretically substantiated and experimentally tested pedagogical conditions of forming science and cognitive competence in prospective teachers of computer science during their professional training; methods - theoretical, empirical, statistical; novelty - the dissertation is the first to provide theoretical substantiation and experimental testing of pedagogical conditions of efficient forming of science and cognitive competence in students; the definition of science and cognitive competence of prospective teachers of computer science as a personality capacity based on a group of developed motives and values of science and cognitive activity of teachers of computer science and the system of knowledge about the laws of its development allowing for scientific search directed at raising efficiency of pupils' learning activity is offered; its structure and components have been determined; the ideas establishing links between students' science and cognitive activity and scientific research activity at the departments of higher educational institutions have acquired further investigation; results - pedagogical conditions of forming science and cognitive competence in prospective teachers of computer science have been experimentally tested and can be used in the process of professional training of students. Theoretical ideas and practical data of the research can be used in teaching manuals on "Pedagogy", "Fundamentals of the Art of Teaching", "Theoretical Fundamentals of Computer Science", " Technical Means of Teaching", "Use of Calculating Technique in the Process of Teaching" as well as for writing course, diploma and master degree papers; field - pedagogy.
