Essay

The dissertation deals with the distinctive psychological features of the development of organizational culture in secondary schools. The research work contains the theoretical substantiation, methodology and the results of the empirical study of the problem in question. The author reveals the essence of organizational culture and the basic approaches to its study. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the role of organizational culture in secondary educational institutions. The empirical investigation determined the levels of development of the main components, the overall index and the basic types of organizational culture of secondary educational institutions as well as the differences between their real and ideal organizational cultures. The author analyzes the relationship between the mezzo-level factors (school type, level of organizational development, number of employees) and the levels of organizational culture as well as the relationship between the micro-level factors (staff's position, type of education, work experience, age, and gender) and staff's assessment of the levels of organizational culture development. The author presents a special teachers' organizational culture development training course as well as discusses the results of its pilot application in a number of secondary schools.
