The dissertation deals with the formation and development of bilingual education in France (the 70s of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century). The dissertation shows the main aspects of intercultural training in the context of bilingual education. The study found the historical and social background of becoming bilingual education in France and singled periods of bilingual education in secondary schools in France. The main trends of bilingual education in secondary schools in France in the period under review have been identified and analyzed. The attention is focused on the key to the effectiveness of the educational process in bilingual education.
