Frasynyuk N. Verbalization of the concept PATIENCE in the Ukrainian, Russian and English languages.

The thesis deals with studying the concept PATIENCE in the Ukrainian, Russian and English languages. The study is an attempt to clarify the theoretical and methodological principles of study of lingual and cultural nature of the concept in the framework of conceptual comparative content analysis of concept PATIENCE. It is defined that concept is a complex operational unit of memory, which is formed in the mind of the speaker, reflecting the major national ideas about the world. In order to clarify the features of the concept reflecting national consciousness of Ukrainian nation and the extent of its associativity, a free associative experiment and the method of free interpretations were conducted and a verbal-associative field of the concept PATIENCE in Ukrainian is defined. It's main features are endurance, expectation, restraint, endurance training, love, perseverance, family. Analysis of the proverbs with concept PATIENCE in the Ukrainian, Russian and English languages identified semantic and cultural features. Cross-cultural ideologies are "patience, as a pledge of life of the poor man", "patience as a pledge of love and family life", "patience as a component of time", "patience is a key to success", "patience, impatience as a sign of failure", "patience has its limits", "patience as a force". The only Russian feature is "patience as the basis of salvation"; Ukrainian - "patience as silence" and English - "patience as suffering".
