Yerych T. The Cultural and educational activities of the Russian Orthodox church in South Bessarabia in XIX – beginning of XX cent.

Based on the representative series of the published and archival sources, a large amount of the literature thesis are investigated the processes of the formation and development of the system of the spiritual education in South Bessarabia in XIX - beginning XX cent., cultural activities of the Russian Orthodox church in the region. It is characterized the government policy on the spiritual education, it is shown its evolution. It is investigated the changes in the system of the spiritual education during the reforms and counter-reforms. It is traced the history of the functioning and impact on the population of the province of the parish schools and diocesan colleges, Kishinev theological Seminary, it is identified the main achievements and shortcomings in their work. It is studied the basic directions of the cultural activities of the Russian Orthodox church in Bessarabia: functioning of the church societies, the formation of the church periodicals.
