The thesis is devoted to the analysis of the concept of critical thinking: the main stages of its historical development and the main theoretical principles. The analysis of the grounds for the formation of the idea of critical thinking providedin the context of the history of logic and philosophical thought. It turns out the place and content of the definition of the concept of critical thinking in the modern logical knowledge. The modern concept of critical thinking is still activelydevelopingand most questions that relating to its status in logical knowledge are still open. On this basis, analyzes the relationship between formal logic and critical thinking to determine its place in formal-logical knowledge. Also, a comparative analysis of the principles of informal logic and critical thinking concepts is provided. The idea that defines the common and different features between them put forward and based on this analysis. Supporting the idea is going on the example of the decision-making process.
