Tyshchenko M. Specifics of formalization of argumentation contexts

The thesis is dedicated to the analysis of the concept of argumentation context in regards to the possibilities of its formal expression. The thesis identifies some theoretical issues concerning the definitions of argumentation contexts in Walton-Krabbe typology and pragma-dialectical theory of context. Among them are the issues concerning the definition of eristics as a dialogue type, the discrepancy between inquiry as a type of dialogue and scientific inquiry, and the lack of argumentative components in information-seeking dialogue. The author clarifies correspondence between persuasion dialogue (Walton-Krabbe typology) and critical discussion (pragma-dialectics). The thesis points out the crucial role of context in distinguishing of aforementioned notions.
