Thesis is devoted to the identification of the logical and methodological principles of heuristics. Original conception of heuristic methods of construction, analysis, and improving research reasoning is substantiated. Main origins and preconditions of the modern heuristics formation are explicated by means of systematic analysis from Antiquity till now. Key features of the interpretation for the concept of "heuristics" are discussed. The concept of heuristic reasoning as well as its basic components are clarified. The research establishes heuristics capabilities as a formal tool and as a methodology for informal research reasoning and its main features are stated.
