Chabanov V. Ukrainian ethnocultural identity under the influence of globalization.

The dissertation is a comprehensive research of the problem connected with formation, reproduction and preservation of Ukrainian ethnic and cultural identity under the influence of contemporary globalization processes. Structural changes, generated by globalizational processes of integration, encourage Ukrainians to realize the necessity of maintaining and developing of its own unique ethnic and cultural diversity. The research analyzes the existing theoretical approaches to the study of ethnic and cultural identity, that allowed to offer the following definitions: "Ethno-cultural identity"- a complex, unique and independent in its development system of relatively stable, peculiar features of culture, mentality and lifestyle of a certain community and its representatives. In the system development of Ukrainian society ethno-cultural identity is a sophisticated model of Ukrainian being with a combination of cognitive, emotional and commitment human principles. "Identity" is determined by dividing the identification and distinction, the sense of similarity with others and the need to underline its own uniqueness; "Originality" is the result of a kind of independent subject development in the process of which there were formed their unique characteristics and recognition of other people and communities.
