Essay

Object: the Soviets represented the party-state and public institutions of different levels: Politburo. Secretariat, Departments (science and culture, science and educational institutions, agitation and propaganda, etc.) CPSU Central Committee and corresponding party organs in Ukrainian SSR; Public Administration for the Protection of State Secrets in the press, the State Security Committees under the Council of Ministers of the USSR and the Council of Ministers of the UkrSSR, Ministries of Culture, Ministries of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the USSR and the UkrSSR, Academies of Sciences USSR and the UkrSSR, the Central Committee LKSMU et al. Objective: to investigate the mechanisms of power and art relations in the Lviv during the period of "late socialism". Methods: historical-genetic, historical, comparative, historical- typological, historical-systematic, simultaneous, dichronic, art, biographical. Results: first introduced into scientific circulation a considerable amount of unpublished archival sources from the abovementioned issues, including documents of personal origin (oral narratives, autobiographies, letters, memoirs, labor activity documents), applied the latest research methodologies (oral history, case studies, the history of everyday life) for the analysis of power and humanitarian intelligentsia relations in the USSR in 1965-1985, the impact of political and ideological factors on the development of art studies in Lviv in the second half of 1960s - the first half of 1980s is highlighted, the mechanisms, form and methods of governance by art research activities are analyzed, institutional framework (a system of main and auxiliary art-science facilities in Lviv) and the main means of scholars communication are characterized. Scope of application: for further study and generalization of artistic events, phenomena and processes taking place in Lviv in the period of "stagnation", for writing scientific papers, manuals, for developing of training courses in higher education establishments, which highlights the problem of the power and intelligence relations, features of the creative process in terms of ideological pressure.
