Essay

The effectiveness of using EAD blood group system and locus TF as markers of selection process aimed to consolidate Ukrainian riding horse breed gene pool was scientifically grounded and practically proven. Specific immunogenetic features of the Ukrainian riding horse breed caused by selection process were identified. Object of research: the formation of the genetic structure of Ukrainian riding horse breed in the process of cultivation and growth. Purpose of the study: the use of immunogenetic markers and proteins for the purpose of genetic control over the Ukrainian riding horse breed gene pool. Methods of research: immunogenetic, electrophoretic, zootechnical, population genetics and statistical methods. Scientific novelty of the results. For the first time a comprehensive analysis of the gene pool of Ukrainian horse breed, breed specific features revealed by polymorphic blood systems and the monitoring of microevolution processes in populations of Ukraine's leading stud farms and breed during the period of twenty-five years.
