The thesis is devoted to the study of individual anatomical variability of sizes, shape and position of the occipital bone. The study was performed on 100 bone specimens of skulls and 60 occipital bones sections of adults. Absolute and relative variability of morphometric parameters of the occipital bone of the skull in various form were set. The extreme forms of the squama and the basilar part of the occipital bone were set and described their relationships. The data on the distribution of the thickness of the occipital bone and its structural layers were refined and expanded in topographic aspect. The new data on the variability of the angular parameters were supplemented and installed, features spatial position of the occipital bone were defined. The paper presents the morphometric characteristics and peculiarities of the structure and shape of the occipital bone of middle-aged people, which can be used to optimize neurosurgical approaches and reconstructive procedures, as well as in forensic medicine and anthropology.
