Yanchenko V. Reenactment of the Kyiv Citadel in X – first half of XIII centuries.

Author carried in execution generalized reconstruction of old Kyiv citadel X – XIII centuries, based on critical analyses of archeological and written sources. It is also shown specific features, as well as consistent patterns of development of cities in Kyivan Rus’. Historiography of the problem, history of examining the Kyiv citadel was investigated. Numerous materials of archeological, architectural and historical researches of “The Volodymyr city” were systematized and classified. Landscape, geomorphological and floral characteristics of Starokyivs’ka Hill was defined. Author reconstructed the fortification lines of the citadel, identified its planning structure. It was also clarified some building technologies of Old Kyiv samples of church and civil architecture in purpose of theirs further reconstruction. Author used experience of realization of the project Park “Kyivan Rus”. This allowed not only to re-enact Kyiv Citadel, but also allowed to display methods and experiments on the historical reconstruction of ancient Kyiv to a new level.
