Essay

The object of research: the rural population of Poltava regiment of the second half of the 18th century. The aim of research: the analyze of demographic, social, religious factors that determined the position of a single woman in the population of Hetmanship in the second half of the 18th century. The subject of research: a single woman in the structure of rural society Hetmanship of the second half of the 18th century as the demographic and socio-cultural phenomenon. The methods of research: analyze, synthesis, logical, historical-genetic, historical-comparative, historical-typological method of quantitative analyze. The results of research and novelty: for the first time in the domestic historiography the complex historical and demographic research of a single woman in rural society of Hetmanship in the second half of the 18th century (on the example of Poltava regiment) is realized in the thesis. The features of age-related, marital and class structures of rural society, as well as certain categories of single women in this community are revealed. The histories of individual women's families are reconstructed, the quantitative and qualitative changes in families' composition are revealed. The sphere of usage: the further research of the current subject, writing of the synthesis works, manuals, reading of the high school courses on the history of Ukraine.
