Essay

For the first time on winter wheat, the genetic activity of new chiral mutagens was investigated. It is established that stereoisomers R(?) NMsBU and S(+) NMsBU induce significant number of genetic changes in the wheat plants. The frequency and spectrum of mutations caused by them is comparable with the famous supermutagens that allow recommending new chiral mutagens for use in mutation breeding of wheat. It is shown that chiral R(?) NMsBU and S(+) NMsBU cause the chromosome aberrations in meristem cells of primary roots of winter wheat with the frequency of 5,1 % - 30,8 %.
