Kulchytsky R. Ivan Makukh public and political activity (1872 - 1946 years).

The thesis analyzes the research of the problem, which is divided into the following problem-chronological areas: Ukrainian historiography of 20-30s of the XX century; Soviet historical opinion; Ukrainian diaspora historians investigation; modern Ukrainian historiography; Polish historical opinion. It characterises the source base of the thesis that includes unpublished and published materials that can be divided into the following groups: unpublished documents that are in the state archives of Ukraine; Ukrainian and Polish periodicals of that time; I. Makukh's own works; memoirs; published materials. The thesis elucidates the methodological basis for the work, which is made of dialectics principles, determinism, historicism, scientific objectivity, consistency, comprehensiveness and totality of historical (problem-chronological, historical and comparative, retrospective), empirical and theoretical (analysis, synthesis), general (logical, abstraction, generalization, induction and deduction) methods.
