Essay

In this research the electrical activity of the cerebral cortex of 170 men and women with right- and left-sided profile of auditory and manual asymmetry, aged 19-21 years were investigated. In test groups were evaluated the following points: perception and reproduction accented rhythmic sequence, EEG reactivity index for the change of power, performance power and coherence in the theta-, alpha-, beta-, and gamma-band EEG in resting state functional during auditory perception and playing accented rhythm patterns of monophonic and polyphonic sounds. Perception and reproduction of sequences is higher in left-handed examined persons; in sense of gender - in women. Brain processes in test groups are provided by the integration processes of excitation in the areas of sensory and motor information processing and also by descending influences on the part of the frontal areas of the cortex. Reduction of coherent interactions between the frontal leads, especially in the alpha-and beta-bands, indicates reducing of centralized influence of prefrontal cortex. The role of such changes is higher in women with right- and in persons with left-sided asymmetry profiles.
