Essay

The thesis considers the author’s dedication of piece of art as a phenomenon in culture and phenomenon of creative biography of composer, reveals its nature and evolution of the historical development; analyzes the types of author’s dedications based on their creation, the range of composer’s recipients, their significance in the creative process of composers; investigates features of author’s dedications of Glinka in the context of musical culture in the first half of the XIX century, Mussorgsky – in the art context in the second half of the XIX century and Lysenko – in the context of development of Ukrainian music culture in the second half of the XIX century. Analyzed some samples of music with dedications, investigated interrelation between their character and inscriptions-dedications to them. Analytical material for thesis includes chamber vocal and instrumental works by Glinka, Mussorgsky, M. Lysenko, epistolary and memoirs legacy of composers and their contemporaries.
