Essay

The thesis is devoted to the research of cognitive and linguo-pragmatic aspects of the language conceptualization of pain on the basis of English, German and Ukrainian. The author analyses the conceptual metaphors presented in the text implementations of the following lexemes: English - pain, ache, German - Schmerz / Schmerzen and Ukrainian - біль / болі, according to the English, German and Ukrainian language corpora and establishes the range of the source domain PAIN in these languages. The structural and communicative peculiarities of the messages that appear in the Internet while communicating on the health forums are characterized. Similarities and differences while verbalizing pain from the first and the third person singular are established taking into consideration the category of evidentially. Thus describing pain from the third person singular, the author feels uncomfortable and tries to change the perspective and either to describe somebody's pain as the pain he would feel in the same case or as he believes somebody feels experiencing this pain (I know this pain / I have experienced it or I see / observe what another person feels) or to abstract from somebody's pain and to report it referring to the words of the person in pain (I retell the words of another person).
