he dissertation is devoted to the socio-geographic research of tourism and recreation resources of Kherson region. It is specially noted the essence and structure of the recreation resources and its peculiarities. Much attention is given to the classification of tourism and recreation resources and environmental management from the social-geographic research standpoint, scientific methods and methodological foundations of the research are defined. The place of Kherson region by the natural and social-geographical recreation re-sourcing is determined nationally. The component structure and territorial features of Kherson region tourism and recreation resources are characterized. The article gives a detailed analysis of social-geographic conditions and Kherson region recreation resources forming factors. The geographical distribution of tourism and recreation resources of Kherson region is designated, in particular cities and districts are grouped by tourism and recreation resource endowment. The problems and prospects of tourism and recreation resources of Kherson region are grounded. Theoretical and methodological generalizations can be used for the leadthrough of socio-geographical researches of tourism and recreation resources of administrative units of different hierarchical levels, including regional and local.
