Thesis is dedicated to investigation the image and idea of Kyiv in the literary heritage of a famous clerical writer of the XIX th century - A.Muraviev. On the basis of wide circle of sources found ideological motivation of writer's initiatives. Investigated the reasons for the spread of St. Andrew's and St. Volodymyr's cult in the context of the place of "idea of Kyiv" - St. Jerusalem.
