Object: socio-cultural processes in Lviv during World War II. Objective: Based on a thorough analysis of archival and printed sources comprehensively explore movement and loss of Lviv historical collections during World War II as a part of the all-Ukrainian national heritage. Methods: historical, chronological, periodisation, analysis, synthesis, chronological, historical and genetic, historical and comparative, historical and legal. Results for the first time identifies the key factors that led to displacement of Lviv librarian, archive and museum collections in 1939-1945., traced the movements of individual mechanisms Lviv librarian, archive and museum collections and analyzes new complexes of sources, improved technique for examining of different types sources that characterize the pre-war state of assemblies and collections of cultural institutions of Lviv system of calculation of quantitative and qualitative indicators that relating to displaced cultural values of particular institutions. of Lviv of outlined period.
