Krishko A. The influence of Wilhelm von Humboldt's (1767-1835) ideas on the native language education in the XIX - early XX century

The thesis presented theoretical generalization and a new approach to solving important and urgent task to reveal Wilhelm von Humboldt's educational and linguophilosophical ideas, which had continued in Ukrainian linguistics and pedagogy XIX - early XX century. Features of their impact on the revival of national intentions and development of Ukrainian language and language education are carried out. The author reveals that the main problem of the language education in Ukraine in the XIX - early XX century is related to issues of bilingualism and teaching in their native language. In the research period the works by K. Ushinsky, N. Kostomarov, O. Potebnya, B. Grinchenko, S. Shelukhina, E. Chykalenko have been analyzed. The author shows that all these works are based on Humboldt's statement that each language reflects the corresponding analyzed mode of perception and organization of the world, and supports the fact that different languages perceive the world differently through the lens of their native language. The author revealed and proved the contribution of the scholars to the different spheres of Ukrainian science and culture in the development of the national language education and the creation of Ukrainian linguistics as an independent linguistic science, without which it is almost impossible to realize the idea of the national study. Ukrainistics formed throughout the nineteenth century and, at the beginning of the twentieth century has already been presented as a full scope of linguistics in such areas as history of Ukrainian literary language, folklore, dialectology, and lexicography, artistic and scientific translation.
