Object - professional teacher training in Australia; aim - to analyse and generalize the theoretical ideas and practice of professional teacher training of teachers of Philology in Australia in order to creatively use the pedagogically efficient experience in present day teacher training in Ukraine; methods - general scientific, retrospective, genetic; novelty - the research is the first to provide an analysis and generalization of theoretical ideas and practice of professional teacher training of teachers of Philology in Australia; the stages in the development of the system of teacher training of teachers of Philology are marked; the directions for the creative implementation of pedagogically efficient ideas and practice of Australian academics in the teacher training system in Ukraine in training teachers of Philology are determined; the standards of teacher training in several states of Australia as well as the samples of educational and methodological materials of teacher training departments at universities are suggested for scientific study; results - the theoretical and practical issues of professional teacher training of teachers of Philology in Australia are generalized. The main results and conclusions of the research are recommended to be considered in working out curriculum courses, for preparing lectures and holding seminars or practical classes, in writing diploma and Master degree papers on Higher education Pedagogy, History of Pedagogy and Comparative Pedagogy and Methods on Teaching Foreign Languages, for compiling textbooks, teaching manuals and reading books on Comparative Pedagogy and History of Pedagogy; field - Pedagogy.
