Essay

The state of the studied problem in national historiography has been analyzed in the dissertation, the author's periodization of development and formation of Ukrainian language as a school subject has been worked out. Public-political, social-economic and educational conditions of formation and development of the theory and practice of teaching Ukrainian language in primary school in 1917-1941 have been cleared out. The content, methods and means of teaching Ukrainian language during the mentioned period have been revealed.
