Object of study: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), the goal - to improve the diagnostics and follow-up of the gas exchange abnormalities in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients by pulmonary ventilation and hypercapnia assessment with the use of capnometry; methods of investigation: clinical, functional, laboratory, statistics; novelty: a new method of lung hyperinflation diagnostics in COPD patients was proposed, hypercapnia diagnostic and COPD phenotypes differentiation criteria according capnometry were formulated. The alveolar ventilation parameters in COPD patients depending on the stage of the disease were defined. Recommendations on the use of capnometry to assess the medical treatment results in COPD patients and the efficacy control of noninvasive assisted ventilation in patients with hypercapnia were developed. Field of application - medicine.
