The object of study - the German minority in Slobozhanschyna at the end of XVIII - early XXI century. The aim of the thesis consists of a comprehensive understanding of the role of the German community in the socio-economic, cultural and educational processes Sloboda region at the end of XVIII to the beginning of the XXI century. Methods: historiographical analysis and synthesis of historical and genetic, historical, comparative, historical, typological, historical and systematic. Scientific novelty - the first time in the historiography produced a comprehensive study of the problem of the German minority, its place and role in the economic, socio-political, cultural and educational processes Sloboda region in different historical periods; subjected to a detailed analysis of the social and legal status of the German minority in the region; provided detailed characteristics of economic and business activities of representatives of the German ethnic group, revealed their proportion among the population of the region within the existence of different political and economic systems; The place of representatives of the German ethnic group in the development of education, science and culture Sloboda region; The analysis of the participation of members of the German minority in the political life of the region and their contribution to the development of various spheres of social life; summed up the experience of ethno-national construction in Ukraine, which at different stages of its history, came to the national question, in particular the German ethnic group within Slobozhanschyna. The practical significance of the main provisions and results of the thesis is the possibility of their use by scientists to reconstruct the history of Ukraine, as well as in the process of writing of general works on the history of Ukraine, the history of Sloboda region, in the preparation of historical and ethnographic research, teaching aids, the development of teaching materials on the history of Ukraine, Sloboda region and national policy for higher education institutions, as well as in the implementation of the concept of national minorities at the present stage of nation-building and promotion of national minorities in the environment of historical and cultural knowledge.
