The research identifies and considers the educational content of foreign language textbooks for students of 5th-7th grades of secondary schools from 1946 to1961. The author determines the learning and educational content of foreign language textbooks for 5th-7th grades from 1946 to 1961. The structure and content of foreign language textbooks for students of 5th-7th grades of secondary schools in the period of study is grounded. The basic functions and theoretical approaches to the development of foreign language textbooks for students of 5th-7th grades of secondary schools in the period of study are identified. The conceptual-categorical apparatus of the research (the essence of notions "textbook", "content of the textbook", "structure of the textbook", "textbook function") along with the regulatory organizational provision of students of 5th-7th grades of secondary schools with foreign language textbooks are specified. Further development is given to the ideas on key target concepts of foreign language education, their reflection in the content of foreign languages textbooks and the principles of the close relationship of learning and education.
