Zasypko M. Political and Socio-Economic Activities of Danylo Apostol.

In the thesis the sources and literature fully characterizing the researched period and the personality of Hetman D. Apostol were analysed. A number of archival documents which had been introduced to the scientific circulation for the first time were characterized. A large amount of literature partially covering the hetman's personality and his work was analysed.The basic factors which had influenced the formation of ideology and political position of the future Hetman were discovered. The historical events which had shaped D. Apostol's political and military talent were described. The basic aspects and factors which had contributed to D. Apostol's coming to the Hetman government were discovered. The Hetman's relationships with the monarchical house of Petersburg and O. Menshikov's family were characterized.The most likely reasons of D. Apostol's taking side of Peter I in 1708 were analysed. The basic factors significantly influencing the change in the Hetman's political positions, but not becoming a driving force of contr-reforms and decline of the Hetmanate, were discovered.
