Essay

The dissertation examines the internal dialogical activity and dialogues between "I" and "not-I" as a factors of identity characteristics, where internal dialogical activity is defined as accessible to awareness internal process of interaction between structures of personality, and identity - as self-interpretation in terms of values and meanings. High level of unproductive forms of internal dialogical activity is a factor of avoidant style and status of identity "doubts", while productive forms of internal dialogical activity is a factor of informational style, exploration and integrity of identity, orientations (personal, social and relational). Low level of internal dialogical activity is a factor of rigid identity status. Informational style associates with the ability of "I" and "not-I" to compromise, activeness in dialogues with each other, willingness of "I" to interact with "not-I" and not be judgmental to it. People with achieved identity status do not conduct dialogues between "I" and "not-I" pertaining to meaning of life. High level of identity commitment associates with absence of judgmental attitude towards "not-I" but include the presence of an attitude that relationships between opposite types of personalities are impossible, which is the same for superficial and collective identity orientations. Personal, social and relational identity orientations associate with positive characteristic of dialogues between "I" and "not-I".
