Essay

The object is literary and critical works by Ukrainian as well as Polish writers, journalists, critics, literary scholars, essay writers in Ukrainian and Polish printed periodical editions, focusing the problems of postmodernism. The purpose is to define the main paradigms of postmodernism reception in Ukrainian and Polish press and find out their common and distinguished features. The methods are genetic, typological, receptive esthetics, comparative analysis, post-structuralism. In the thesis for the first time postmodernism is under study in the close relation with media. The genesis of postmodernism and the formation of its main characteristic features as ones of literary style and direction in art are distinguished here. The most essential issues of contemporary postmodernism philosophy, culture, society are analyzed here. The phenomenon of postmodernism media-transferring is regarded as one involving mutual cooperation and mutual influence. Postmodernism not only influences the contemporary media but also postmodernism is often made shaped as well as popularized by them. Two national variants of postmodernism are distinguished and researched in the context of its media reception in Ukrainian and Polish printed media. The sphere is the academic process, journalistic activity.
