Essay

The thesis presents an analysis of symbolic meanings used in verbal texts of different genres of folklore in the process of verbalization of the binary opposition "top-down". Binary opposition "top-down" represents the linguistic objectification of a person's world, its system of values and features of attitude. The lingual nature of language symbols and the described features of their functioning in the structure of the folklore text (in particular nouns and fairy tales) have been explored. Basic symbolic and semantic components that characterize the opposition in a juding-axiological paradigm based on universal codes of culture have been indentified. The connection between the symbolic meanings of lexical units - verbal indicators of the binary opposition "top-down" - with and elements of the internal lexicon of man have been discovered and described.
