Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to the complex study on Galicia in the eyes of Dniesprian Ukrainophiles in 1860s-1880s as an element of the Ukrainian national idea. We have determined the factors that influenced the formation of the historical conceptions as well as the worldview of Dnieprian Ukrainophiles on the role of Galicia in the Ukrainian national development. The content, form and development of the communication between the intellectuals of Dnieper Ukraine and those from Galicia have been identified. It has been clarified that the communication of the intellectuals between these two parts of Ukraine had a great influence on the perception of Galicia.
