Essay

The object of the research were the publicist works of Y. Lypa during 1925-1941. ("The appointment of Ukraine", "Black Sea Doctrine", "The separation of Russia" and others). The aim of the thesis is to disclose the specific of interpretation of national character in Y. Lypa's publicism through the light of moral, ethical, religious, existential and philosophical layers of being Ukrainian, which are deepened in the Ukrainian cultural tradition. The purpose and objectives stimulated a comprehensive use of cultural-historical, typological and sociolinguistic psychoanalytic method, comparison, ascent from the abstract to the concrete and discourse analysis. The theoretical value of the thesis is to clarify and distinguish terms "national character", "mentality" and also to classify the critical materials devoted to Yuri Lipa. The received results will be useful for further study of the Y. Lypa as well as other journalists who dealt with issues of ethnic psychology. Practical results: the work can contribute to publication and constitution of Y. Lypa’s collected works. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the interpretation of the Y. Lypa’s works due to reception of problem in its national character and in the formulation and justification of the principles of a new methodology for studying journalist heritage. The results of this work can be effectively used in the course of history of Ukrainian journalism of the twentieth century, for developing courses and seminars devoted to Y. Lypa publicist, and in subsequent studies of its heritage. Scope - theory and history of journalism, cultural studies, philosophy, ethnic psychology, philology, pedagogy, politics and others.
