Object - the age features of the structure and syntopy of the upper respiratory tract in human ontogenesis; objective - to find out the age changes of the structure and topographical and anatomical relationships of the ethmoid bone with neighboring formations in human ontogeny; methods - a macroscopic, graphic and plastic reconstruction, an injection of blood vessels, X-ray, computer and magnetic resonance imaging, histological, morphometric, statistical ones; results - for the first time by means of a set of modern and appropriate methods of morphological studies we conducted a thorough research of the features of laying, development and formation of bone topography of the ethmoid bone during all periods of human ontogenesis, on 140 specimens of the facial area of human corpses of all ages, study of X-rays, CT and MRI, it was established the dynamics of changes in the shape and size of the ethmoid bone in different age periods; we specified topographical and anatomical relationships of the ethmoid bone components, morphological changes in their structure, periods of intense and slow growth and variability within human ontogenesis; we clarified, expanded and supplemented the literature data on patterns of structure, morphological changes and syntopy of the ethmoid bone throughout entire human ontogeny.
