The dissertation presents a complete historical and pedagogical analysis of ethnopedagogical traditions of upbringing of the children in families of elite of Volyn region (second half of XIX ? early XX century); proved their essentiality as a social and pedagogical phenomenon and means of family education; analyses the genesis of the concept "elite" in the historical teaching experience; specifies the essence of the concepts "social elite", "national elite", "elitist" "elitist criteria", "intelligentsia". Author generalized the experience of the ethnopedagogical traditions of parenting in families of elite of the Volyn region during second half of XIX ? early XX century, and outlined the prospects for its use in modern educative practice in Universities.
