Essay

Constant circulation of Newcastle disease viruses among wild and synanthropic birds in different regions of Ukraine was confirmed, which proves the need for continuous monitoring of epizootic disease in the natural reservoir. It was established circulation field isolates of Newcastle disease virus in chickens from the small poultry farms. There were studied biological, molecular-and-genetic properties of ND pathogens isolated from different hosts (chickens, pigeons), as well as their phylogenetic relationships with viruses from other geographical regions. A new method of Newcastle disease virus inactivation with binary etylenimin that provides complete inactivation of infectious properties of virus at the saving antigenic ones was developed. Manufacturing techniques of diagnostic kits for the detection of antibodies to the ND virus using ELISA (achievements and inactivation of viral raw, purification and concentration of antigen, optimization of reaction maintenance rules) was improved. Improved kit-system has been tested in laboratory and industrial conditions, registered in Ukraine.
