Essay

Social philosophy has a priority in determining of the essence, distinctive features, as well as potential and limits of social foresight as a special type of social cognition. We found partial complementarity science-inclusive and science-exclusive approaches to predicting and forecasting the social future. Research of the foundations of social future predicting based on distinction of their importance as different framework conditions for social foresight - external (eg, anthropological) and internal (eg, social-systemic, social-institutional) on the one hand, and social factors of social predictions, which are the valuable characteristics of social communities - on the other. The comparison of the main traditions of understanding of the social contract as a basis for the interpretation of the principles of value orientation to social future, causing to find their different values positions, respectively, and a great range of their social predictions: long-term in Anglo-Saxon and short-term in continental tradition. It is specified socio-philosophical understanding of utopia as that value system, which in many ways, but consistently operates as an instrument for the social foresight at different social levels, possibly due essentially the relationship of absolute and relative utopias.
