In this thesis the author researches into peculiarities of art and style of the icon cases in Hutsulshchyna of the second half of the19th - beginning of the 20th century as the original and little studied phenomenon in Ukrainian sacral art. The author enlightens the role and importance of icon cases in the liturgical altar space. The icon cases typology is developed following the functional and shape building principles. The author gives analysis of artistic expressiveness of architectonics and d?cor and peculiarities of manufacturing techniques.Iconographic icon case images and its symbolism and coloring are characterized. The author identifies the Schools centers and workshops on the territories studied; introduces prominent masters, and evaluates icon cases of modern churches of Hutsulshchyna from the point of view of art and aesthetic.
