The thesis is a comprehensive study of the reсonstruction of features of the German literary romantic tale in Ukrainian translations from the perspective of linguistic pragmatics and linguistic cultural studies. The material of the dissertation is the German literary romantic tales by E.T.A. Hoffmann and W. Hauff. The paper defines the notion of the "literary fairy tale", explores the epistemological aspects of the genre of literary fairy tale, reveals the main differences between the folk and literary fairy tales and considers their pragmatic adaptation as a way of achieving an adequate translation. Linguistic cultural units and methods of their translation into Ukrainian are investigated.
