Demyanchuk V. Socio-political activity of Ivan Gel (1987–1991)

Object: socio-political and church-religious processes in the UkrSSR at the turn of the 80's and 90's of XXI century. Objective: analysis of social and political activities of Ivan Gel in the context of socio-political processes of the UkrSSR. Methods: deduction, induction, generalization and systematization of similar facts, comparative analysis, system-functional. Results: for the first time the role of chairman of the Committee of Protection of UCC in the process of legalization of the Greek Catholic Church in the UkrSSR is defined, his achievements in building of civil society in the UkrSSR, "loosening" of the political system of the UkrSSR are shows, state-labor in the Lviv Regional Council of first democratic convocation is considered, on specific examples fighting for the rise of national consciousness of Ukrainians in Galicia is shown. Scope of application: for writing of generalizing scientific works on the modern history of Ukraine; for preparation of teaching aids, educational programs and special courses.
