Zabilyy R. Peculiarities of armed struggle of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army in-between 1942–1949

Object: Ukrainian Insurgent Army, component of the Ukrainian liberation movement of the mid-twentieth century, armed irregulars and over party formation of insurgent type, in the context of military and political processes during the Second World War and in the postwar period. Objective: to analyze the features of armed struggle of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army as irregular military formation. Methods: comprehensive, comparative, typology, system-structural, historical and chronological, historical and situational, mathematical, logical, method of analogies and generalization, problem-chronological and deductive. Results: for the first time studied the formation and search of forms of active armed resistance to totalitarianism, reconstructed the process of preparing for the deployment of Ukrainian Insurgent Army and discussions among the OUN on the choice of its concept, shows the differences in strategic objectives and purpose between insurgents and red guerrillas, that claimed the idea of Ukrainian Insurgent Army as original and unique phenomenon, reconstructed the socio-political conditions of the deployment of military-territorial groups of army, factors that catalysts in choosing the strategy of war during the Nazi occupation, proposed periodization of activity of UPA by analyzing the characteristics of the military and political measures of its command and actions of insurgent divisions. Scope of application: for the conclusion of the regulatory framework from issues of national memory, for preparing of synthesis papers and special courses on the history of World War II.
