Main challenges of the children's movement in the educational periodicals of Ukraine in the twenties - early thirties of the 20th century have been defined and described in the thesis. The three chronological periods outline the historiography of the problem (the twenties - early thirties of the 20th century: the first works on the children's movement and the emergence of local educational periodicals; the mid thirties-late eighties of the 20th century: the works that include scientific analysis of the studied phenomenon; the nineties of the 20th century - present time: the works that reveal the causes, conditions and consequences of the children's movement and the role of periodicals) and determine the theme: children's movement; periodicals; children's movement as described in the periodicals. The following theoretical problems of the children's movement were highlighted and characterized on the pages of the educational journals in the twenties - early thirties of the 20th century: history of the national children's movement; regulatory support of the children's movement; the foreign children's movement; pedagogy of the children's movement; main directions of the children's movement development. The challenges of scientific and methodological support of the children's movement in the Ukrainian educational periodicals of the twenties - early thirties of the 20th century have been revealed. The thesis describes the role of educational periodicals and methodological literature in the development of the children's movement in the twenties - early thirties of the 20th century.
