The thesis conducted a comprehensive study the public activity of known Ukrainian historian Michael Braychevskyi. Characterized the evolution of social-political views of the scientist. Followed M. Braychevskyi's attitude to Marxism in terms of its perception as a theory of social development, and scientific concepts. Analyzed the process of becoming a historian as Ukrainian patriot. Discovered the social activities of Michael Braychevskyi in the Soviet period of Ukraine's history: enlightening, protection of monuments and other. The researcher examined the role and importance of M. Braychevskyi in the processes of Ukraine's sovereignty and his activities in the years of Ukrainian independence.
