The dissertation is devoted to complex research of the establishment and activities of Ukrainians' cultural and educational societies of Przemy?l and their role in social and political life of Galicia in terms of being a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Second Polish Republic and multiethnic and multicultural city background in 1867-1939. Based on archival sources, published documents and materials, scientific literature the specifics of Ukrainian social status and social and cultural situation in polyethnic and multi-religious population of Przemy?l, due to the priority of the Austrian central power and its patronage to Poles in 1867-1918 and predominant Polish factor in 1918-1939 was disclosed for the first time in Ukrainian historiography.
