In the dissertation the periodization has been offered and the peculiarities of development of the theory and practice of social care of children and young people in custodial - educational institutions of the region have been cleared out. The development of the theory of social custody of children and young people in the works of Bukovyna region educators and public figures of the studied period has been analyzed. The peculiarities of custody in the system of public schools of the region have been cleared out. The influence of the activity of social, national-cultural and religious associations on the development of social custody of children and young people in the region has been grounded.
